John Cena’s latest WWE run has taken a more significant toll on him than fans could have imagined.
The record 16-time world champion has had to undergo multiple surgeries after his recent two-month stint wrestling came to an end.
Cena’s exit from WWE came at Crown Jewel earlier this month following an emphatic loss to Solo Sikoa.
Following the crushing defeat, WWE commentator Michael Cole said Sikoa’s record could now read as ‘the man who retired John Cena’.
Cena himself has since teased multiple retirement clues on social media, with one featuring a captionless photo of David Beckham in his final match for Paris-Saint Germain.
The Peacemaker actor’s decision may have been caused by the two surgeries he has been forced to undergo to fix an issue with his arms.
The 46-year-old shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed and shaking hands with renowned surgeon Jeffrey R. Dugas.
Cena joked alongside the picture: “Thank you for the autograph, @JeffDugasMD!
“So very grateful to him and his whole team for two successful surgeries. A world-class facility that has me ready to seize the day… with two repaired arms!”
Cena’s surgery and subsequent post comes less than two weeks after he was first under the knife for a procedure on his arms.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Cena said: “Thank you @JeffDugasMD and your entire team in Birmingham!
“One arm fixed, clean & headed for therapy … one arm left to go! Thank you again and see you ASAP for the next one!!”
Cena’s in-ring wrestling future looked uncertain enough after the end of the actors’ strike refocused plans to return to Hollywood.
The Fast and Furious star had already surprised fans with his next career move after announcing his own talk show.
Titled ‘What Drives You’, Cena’s show will feature him going for a rid alongside celebrity guests reminiscing about their favourite cars.
